Brian Schiele

While waiting for Julien to arrive, I read his CV and decided he had to be Irish in spite of the name. He is actually French.

His piece Fall of a window cleaner alternates surreal dream-like sequences with fast 'falling' music. Each time we have played it Julien and/or Martin have tried adding different effects. At first we couldn't hear them (we were hearing only a clean sound from each instrument and one small speaker for each instrument allowing us to balance our sounds in the normal way), but after coffee we wanted to hear the full effect so these added sounds were played back to us through a pair of speakers facing us. Surprisingly we could still hang on to the rhythm in spite of considerable transformations to our sounds.

Alex records and mixes all of the above and in the breaks we are able to hear splendid and even-more-colourful versions!
