Charlotte Murray: RememberedImagined #2

And once you'd started working from the archives, how did reality differ from your expectations of what it would be like?

When I'd remembered using the Archives in the past, I had envisioned needing to be really organised about what tapes I wanted to listen to, and getting them requested in advance to leave time for them to warm up. It was a huge relief to find out everything has since been digitised and is made available to listen to through the computer! It was also great to have the full tour - I don't think I'd been down to the actual archive storage stacks before or the map room. I could look at those maps for hours. It feels like an enormous luxury to be back. It's like being a student again but without the academic pressures and the time to actually explore!
