I'm in a slightly different position to the other artists starting this project as I have been both a student at the School of Scottish Studies and been co-ordinating a partnership project between the Archives and the Edinburgh Youth Gaitherin for the past year. However, I haven't actually used the Archives myself in a good long time and my memory is a bit rusty. I remember computers and index cards, and looking for search terms (sometimes without much luck). Then searching through large volumes looking for specific slips of information in transcripts (hoping there are transcripts!), and listening on the reel-to-reel. Back then everything was for an essay so there wasn't much time to get side-tracked or lost in something interesting.
