Viva Tango! The Cottier Chamber Project Glasgow, 5 June 2015

Cottiers Theatre, Hyndland Street, Glasgow
10.30pm

Mr McFall's Chamber are well known for their love of tango, with maté fuelled rehearsals and an encyclopaedic knowledge of Piazzolla and his colleagues.

In the first of The Cottier Chamber Project's Late Adventures evenings, Mr McFall's Chamber will host a Milonga with a Polish twist. The evening will begin with an open dance class, led by professional tango specialists, before the musicians take to the stage to perform milonga and concert sets.

Now popular across the globe, tango music was hugely popular in the clubs of Warsaw during the 1920s and 1930s - it became one of the most popular dances, and Polish composers wrote hit after hit.

Jenny & Ricardo Oria
Jenny & Ricardo have performed and taught in Europe, the USA and in Argentina and have been dancing together for over 12 years. They both studied with Maestros los Dinzel and other well-known milongueros. They share a passion for teaching as well as dancing, and their classes emphasise clear explanations, focusing on connection, technique and feeling. Their dance has an immediacy, that allows them to express both the serious and playful aspects of Tango and an intimacy of embrace and feeling which underpins every movement.
